ABOUT
Diane Fournier Painter
A self-taught artist based on the South Shore of Montreal, her work, at the crossroads of abstraction and expressionism, explores movement in all its forms: displacement in space, the migration of emotions and the quest for peace.
Through spontaneous gestures and varied materials, she creates vibrant works where warm colors, collages, and calligraphic lines blend to bring memories and reminiscences to life. Each canvas is a reflection on identity, memory, and human resilience.
Her world is waiting to be discovered, and she will be happy to discuss any questions, collaborations or acquisitions with you.

BIO
A self-taught artist, Diane Fournier creates abstract and semi-abstract works, vibrant and expressive, where color breathes life and emotion.
Always drawn to the arts, it was in 1988 that painting became a necessity for her. A colleague invited her to join her for a painting session on Île Notre-Dame. That day, on a beautiful summer afternoon, she painted her first canvas, unaware that she had just begun a long artistic journey.
Although she continued her professional career, this experience marked a decisive turning point. Driven by a thirst for learning and experimentation, she perfected her craft alongside professional artists by attending various workshops on composition, color, drawing, and sculpture.
She initially painted in oils, but quickly adopted acrylics and mixed media, which better suited her energetic gestures and her need for spontaneity. Her artistic language, deeply personal, is then constructed in the expression of emotions and energy through free gestures and dynamic compositions.
Since 2012, she has devoted herself entirely to her artistic practice. Her career has led her to participate in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including one in France. Her works have found their way into several private collections in Canada and Europe. She has notably received several awards recognizing her talent and has been invited to sit on selection juries.
APPROACH
For Diane Fournier, the act of painting is a space where the mind gives way to the unconscious, and becomes a place where everything is possible, allowing for infinite exploration, where chance and intention meet. She creates to beautify the world, to offer the viewer a moment of pause and to invite them to contemplate a timeless universe.
Gesture plays a central role in her work: it conveys vitality, the energy of movement, and the depth of emotion. She works primarily in acrylic, a medium that encourages experimentation and speed of execution. Depending on the inspiration of the moment, she uses a dry brush, a spatula, and sometimes incorporates collage, graphite, or ink.
She likes to reveal traces, hatchings, and uncertain lines, capturing the moment and spontaneity of the gesture. The color, applied in successive layers, sometimes scratched, superimposed, or blended, creates vibrant harmonies that invite contemplation. Nothing is fixed; everything is in transformation, like a world in perpetual change.
His style oscillates between abstraction and semi-abstraction: landscapes or figures may emerge, but the essential is based on the dialogue between colors, textures and penciled lines.
Art is a never-ending quest, where each work carries within it the echo of the previous ones. Through her creations, she seeks to open visual spaces that resonate with the viewer's experiences, inviting them to a personal reading, blending emotion, imagination, and contemplation.
